Andiroba aka Carapa Guianensis
Hello, Everyone! Andiroba oil is an oil that I've recently discovered and I'm looking forward to adding it to my cadre of oils because of its many benefits.
Andiroba oil is obtained from the seeds of the andiroba tree. The andiroba tree is part of the mahogany family found in tropical Brazil, Guyana & Colombia. Each andiroba tree produces small semi-circular seeds that have similar characteristics to neem oil without the un-friendly scent of neem oil. The name andiroba is taken from the name "nheengatu nhandi rob", which means "bitter oil".
Andiroba oil is extensively used by:
- Professional athletes as a muscle rub and to treat sports injuries
- People that suffer from arthritis and rheumatism as a pain reliever
- Hair care salons as a hot oil treatment for clients with thick, naturally curly hair. Andiroba oil increases blood circulation in the scalp, which in turn promotes healthy hair growth.
